In a recent official announcement in Mexico City, with Ford's CEO Alan Mulally and the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, the company said they will sell the Ford Fiesta Sedan and the Hatchback to North America.
The total investment tops at $3 billion and includes the Chihuahua plant that will produce diesel engines, the transmission plant in Guanajuato and the Cuautitlán plant that will produce the compact sedan. The fabrication processes for cars and trucks are very different, which explains why it will take them until 2010 to deliver the first Fiestas.
