German Automaker Porsche is all set to launch its new diesel variant Porsche Cayenne in 2009. The big SUV consumes 12.9 liters of diesel for 100 km or 21.9 miles and with the rising fuel pricing Porsche believes that the consumers would opt for it.

The car is all set to be launched in March 2009 with a price tag of €55,000 and the company is planning to manufacture 15,000 units annually. This will increase Cayenne sales up to 50,000 units each year.

Porsche is also working on a new smaller Cayenne for the next generation and the prototypes have been spotted last month. The car looks visibly smaller than the current model, identical to Audi Q5 with with the same wheelbase span, but Porsche has denied they're planning to make another SUV under the Cayenne brand.
