The 2008 Formula 1 Championship is about to start this weekend (March 16) in Melbourne and everyone is very excited. What you probably don't know is that one month ago rumors were saying that Bernie Ecclestone, the owner of Formula One, was interested to move the Australian race in Russia because Melbourne organizers refused to host a night race.

Things have changed in the meanwhile. "It's not a blank cheque,” Iemma Morris premier of New South Wales  told the Herald Sun of Melbourne, “but it could be held at a place like Eastern Creek, obviously with modifications… If Formula One is looking for a night race then Eastern Creek could be converted to suit them".

I wonder if Sydney is able to bring the same crowds at a F1 race. What do you think?
