
The Japanese automaker, which debuted its new relationship at the half-marathon distance Aug. 5 in the NYC Half-Marathon, will capitalize on the sponsorship with the country's largest marathon by showcasing its hybrid platform.
The Toyota Prius is the country's best-selling hybrid. Toyota also manufacturers the hybrid version of the Highlander SUV and Camry. The vehicles will be showcased through regional TV and print, on and off course signage as well as operational usage such as transporting athletes and officials.
In addition to prize money, the men's and women's division winners at the ING New York City Marathon will receive a 2008 Prius.
The ING New York City Marathon will be held Nov. 4. The marathon's previous car sponsor was Daimler Chrysler's Smart micro compact in 2005.
Avis, the automobile rental agency, is also a sponsor of the New York City Marathon, and it's expect to soon include Prius as a car rental option.
