Here are two more responses to my recent blog request on AutoMill.com asking for readers to submit tales of their first cool cars.
"I'll always have fond memories of the Geo Metro I drove in high school. The tires were only slightly thicker than Oreo cookies, the horn sounded like something from a video game, and the steering wheel would start to shake when I would drive the speed limit on the freeway.
"But they did give me the best parking spot in the lot — half a spot, really — since mine was the only car that fit. Good times."
"My first car was a 1964 Dodge Dart, white, my folks' car, passed down to me. It was definitely not a chick magnet. But dependable transportation from Kansas City, where we lived at time, to Southern California, when I went away to college in the late '60s.
"When I got out of UCLA in 1972 and got my first job, I bought a forest green Mustang. Best car I've ever owned, and wish I had it today."
